10 Best Ever Video Game Dads

5. Lee - The Walking Dead

Walking Dead Lee Clem
Telltale

Telltale’s The Walking Dead was the game that alerted the wider gaming world to the talents of the now defunct studio. It released at the peak of the TV show’s popularity but borrowed heavily from the aesthetics of Robert Kirkman’s comic, which more than worked to its benefit.

Centre to the game was the relationship between Lee - a prison escapee - and Clementine, a child left behind by her family during the formative days of the zombie apocalypse. Together, they have to fight their way through the wasteland to survive, and it’s one of the most affecting father-daughter relationships ever seen in the medium.

Granted, the ending is a bit sad. Okay, scratch that, extremely traumatising, but that doesn’t take away from how good a dad Lee was. He fought for Clem until the bitter end, and that never-say-die spirit ensured her survival in the next few seasons.
