Although The Greater Guardian appears very late in Eternal Darkness, this cosmic monstrosity is technically the first boss. Since our hero in this chapter, Paul Luther, is armed with tons of spells and weapons, this fight would go smoothly (at least, in theory).

But since The Guardian is immune to everything but Magick, this is not a straightforward affair. What's worse is Paul must stand perfectly still to conjure a incantation, making him a sitting duck most of the time. Also, the more powerful the enchantment, the longer it takes to perform, giving the boss more time to attack.

Naturally, the most sensible thing to do is to stand as far away from the Guardian as possible while using Magick. Unfortunately, this tactic doesn't help much, since the Lovecraftian fiend can strike Paul by conjuring zombies and emitting lasers. Near the end of battle, the Guardian seals off most of the room, preventing Paul from relying on long-range attacks.

Although the Greater Guardian is an arduous adversary, the fight itself is perfectly fair. The player should be well-versed in defensive and offensive magic at this stage and so, should know the best course of action to take the ancient beast down.
