10 Best Gaming Remakes Of This Console Generation

If you played games in the eighties and nineties, chances are the term "movie tie-in" will elicit an involuntary shudder. Back in the day, some coke-snorting marketing wonks decided no movie was complete without an accompanying video game, resulting in game stores being flooded with licensed shovelware that was pumped out quickly to hoover up money from the young and the ignorant.

If you want proof of how far gaming has come since then, look no further than Ratchet and Clank - the PS4 remake of the 2002 original that surpassed its movie equivalent both critically and commercially. As anyone who's ever played an R&C game can attest to, this wasn't really a surprise. Ratchet and Clank is one of gaming's most consistently entertaining franchises not because of the witty banter between its leads, but because of the riotously entertaining arsenal they wield in each game. No movie can match the visceral joy felt when decimating enemy hordes with weapons like the Groovitron, Pixelizer and Mr. Zurkon, and the PS4 Ratchet & Clank offered that feeling in spades.

Really, our only problem with the game is that it left us wanting more. We've spent four years waiting for a follow up, and the upcoming Rift Apart is amongst our most anticipated next gen launch title.
