10 Best Gaming Remakes Of This Console Generation
8. Yakuza Kiwami 2
Moving on from one of the most poignant games ever created, we come to Yakuza Kiwami 2 - a game that lets you control the velocity of your character's piss to win a urinal-based minigame.
That may sound dismissive, but the genius behind the Yakuza series is that it presents even the most ludicrous scenarios with stone-faced sincerity. Watching series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu take on every challenge - from rescuing his kidnapped foster daughter to becoming the best urinator in Tokyo - with the same earnest determination is oddly inspirational, and Kiwami 2 provides plenty of opportunities to see Kiryu at his best.
Like any good remake, Kiwami 2 takes the original and makes it better. As well as the expected graphical facelift, the original's excellent side-quests are supplemented with the cabaret club management minigame from Yakuza 0 and a typically barmy take on Tower Defense starring fan-favourite Goro Majima. Majima also features in Kiwami's other banner addition, a mini campaign that acts as a heartwarming epilogue to the equally excellent Yakuza 0.
Kiwami 2 is arguably the greatest entry of the Yakuza games, and with new boy Ichiban Kasuga replacing Kiryu as the series protagonist, this remake doubles as a worthy send-off to one of gaming's greatest heroes.
