10 Best Indie Games Of 2015

2. Invisible Inc.

The stealth genre isn't in the best place at the moment. With the once-great Thief series imploding on itself a couple of years ago, and the Splinter Cell series hiding in the shadows, who are we to count on for our sneaky kicks? Enter Invisible Inc, an isometric turn-based stealth game in which you are an espionage agency handler responsible for a squad of spies, who has three days to lead them through a series of missions around the world in preparation for one final mega-mission. The game is pretty quick to play through, but uses roguelike mechanics, permadeath and procedurally-generated mission objectives to keep things feeling constantly fresh and suspenseful. The missions themselves entail you trying to retrieve weapons and other military items while causing as little suspicion as possible. If you must, you can kill enemies in the game, but that will ramp up the difficulty as they'll call in reinforcements upon encountering dead bodies. Each spy has their own unique abilities, encouraging you to experiment with different approaches to the levels - do you hack the security systems to turn on the enemy or sneak through like a ninja, incapacitating each guard as you go to ensure a clear path to the exit? Invisible Inc. is incredibly replayable, and once you complete the relatively short game you'll want to jump straight back in to try new characters in the new, procedurally-generated levels that you'll face on your next play-through.
