8. Alex Hernandez - Lincoln Clay (Mafia III)

It takes a masterful script/actor combo to pull off the old Hollywood revenge tale after so many past attempts have been made. And though Mafia III's setup would only require something of a 'meat-headed' Punisher-esque mound of muscle to see it through, Hernandez's Lincoln never loses its humanity.

Granted, over the course of the game we see Lincoln engage in increasingly barbaric acts of revenge as his list of targets grows thinner, but there's a believability to Alex's performance that means you're always happy to keep pushing through.

By the time the credits have rolled you'll have controlled a wronged individual embodying the metaphorical injustice of racial hatred, personal strife and vengeance all in one: a phenomenal arc that wouldn't work without such a stellar performance.
