For this and the next entry, feel free to switch them round depending on which movie you prefer, as with EA's two big movie tie-ins it's all going to come down to which set-piece from which film you enjoyed acting out more. As there's no EA Fellowship game - instead the multi-developer-created 2002 offering was a bit of a stinker - they then set about including all the big moments from the first movie as levels inside the Two Towers. It even opened with Isildur's battle against Sauron's army before zipping over to Aragorn tackling the Ringwraiths at Weathertop, easily being one of the coolest tutorial sections there's ever been. Fighting was responsive and combos were plentiful, but what really took the whole experience to another level was thanks to licensing the trilogy, Howard Shore's epic score was everywhere from backing every sword swing to padding out the menus in between fights. Not to mention there were great little cinematic touches where film footage would switch instantly to in-game, showing off the (at the time) stunninggraphics. The big moment everyone talks about playing is also one of the big reasons people love the second movie the most - the battle of Helms Deep. In EA's version you fought to defend the gate in various spots, going from slashing through screenfuls of orcs next to the doors up to kicking ladders away atop the embattlements. With one of the cheat codes being to slow everything down to a crawl, watching the action unfold bit by bit as Shore's roaring theme thundered away underneath easily made this one of the best experiences any fan would ever have.
