This is the second game from Paradox Development Studio to make the top ten Mac list. This time the team have set their strategies game in the middle of war-torn Europe during World War II. As you would expect from Paradox this game is an astoundingly complex beast that is not for the fainthearted, or those with little time on their hands.

This is a detailed strategy game in which the devil is certainly in the detail, and - as in reality (I imagine) - a successful war takes a lot of planning and recourse management, and there is a lot of management.

From the smallest hill on the incredibly detailed world map, to larger political decisions, Hearts of Iron has it all.

The story of WWII is obviously well known, and this game enables the player to experiment with all those ‘what-if’ questions that will never be answered. You are able to see what the USA would have been like if they were fascists or a communist Japan, for example. Thus, this game will appeal to strategy gamers and history fanatics in equal measure.
