While yeah, Spider-Man 2 and the more recent Shattered Dimensions are usually pointed out as the greatest Spider-Man games that consoles have ever seen, even though they don't come close to the almost perfect heights of Neversoft's original PS1 game.

Without being tied down to any movies, this original Spider-Man game lovingly drew from its source material, bringing in familiar characters and locations from the expanded comic universe while weaving a surprisingly inventive plot that involved just about every iconic villain in the hero's rogues gallery.

The gameplay itself hasn't quite held up over the years but it's the definitive Spider-Man world that's created in Neversoft's PS1 release that makes it such a joy to pick up and play to this day.
