10 Best Nintendo Switch Horror Games
7. Layers Of Fear: Legacy
This title was a little divisive upon its release, with some heralding it as one of the scariest games they'd ever played and others calling it a paint by numbers horror experience. The only way for you to find out which side you agree with it to play it for yourself. Either way, it's an essential experience for the Switch and horror-game fanatics.
Layers of Fear sees you take on the role of a psychologically disturbed painter who returns home to his studio and attempts to finish his magnum opus. You do this by exploring his Victorian mansion, uncovering environmental clues, learning about his troubled past and experiencing a hell of a lot of jump scares - as is to be expected with this kind of game.
It doesn't do anything extraordinary outside of the gameplay, as the typical exploration mechanic filled with shocking scares is a formula that has been done to death. Still, the exciting scenario and genuinely haunting mystery of the painter's past is enough to make the game worth playing. Plus, the focus on paintings make the jump scares very unpredictable, as there's a lot of scope for creativity.
Within Layers of Fear: Legacy on the Switch also comes the Inheritance DLC, which is also a lot of pulse-racing fun.
