10 Best Open-World Video Games Of 2017

8. Ghost Recon: Wildlands

Moving away from its futuristic sci-fi setting in favour of a more grounded, real world focus, Ghost Recon: Wildlands caught the attention of players earlier this year thanks to its ability to be played entirely with three other friends.

Unfortunately though (or not, depending on how you look at it), Wildlands was pretty much the most Ubisoft game Ubisoft have ever created, cramming in every bad habit the developer is known for.

Consequently, while the world was genuinely massive and had an overwhelming amount of activities for players to get stuck into, there was no real connective tissue to tie these gameplay segments together outside of a lacklustre upgrade tree and the promise of more weapons.

It's a pretty good time with friends, but it's the most soulless, by-the-numbers title the studio has put out to date.
