5. Type-1 Energy Sword - Halo

For a weapon that's probably been responsible for hundreds of destroyed friendships over the years, the Type-1 Energy Sword from the Halo series is pretty iconic. The plasma blade is deadly in combat, and encountering another player who's wielding one of these in a Halo multiplayer game can often equate to a death sentence.

But on the flip side, picking one of these up for yourself gives a certain Christmas morning feeling. Lunging into attacks with the Energy Sword is great fun, as is slashing it aimlessly around tight corners and corridors in the hopes of bumping into victims.

Most joyful of all, however, is the sheer pleasure that can be taken as you approach another player and see them frantically spraying bullets at you in the hopes they can take you down before the sword strikes.
