9. Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles

Resident Evil 4 was huge back when it launched and attracted so many new fans to the franchise. So with this explosion of interest, Capcom decided to capitalise on the brand and released The Umbrella Chronicles for the Nintendo Wii in 2007.

This on-rails shooter is told from the perspective of series villain Albert Wesker, as he reminisces on the events of the previous games. Resident Evil 0, 1 and 3 are summarised in a series of 3 levels each, along with bonus levels that fill in additional parts of the story. This is capped off with a final episode named “Umbrella’s End” which gives fans the downfall of the villainous corporation that they were denied in Resident Evil 4.

Umbrella Chronicles is fun to play with a friend but is not interesting nor dynamic enough to hold the player's attention for more than short bursts. It shines in its retellings of Resident Evil 0 and Resident Evil 1 but stumbles with its highly-misguided retelling of Resident Evil 3. “Death’s Door” is the stand-out from the game which shows how Ada Wong escaped Raccoon City following the events of Resident Evil 2.
