10 Best Resident Evil Spin-Off Video Games

8. Resident Evil: Survivor

Survivor is somewhat of a forgotten gem in the Resident Evil canon. Released right at the end of the PlayStation's life cycle, many players had moved on. Not only, but it was also overshadowed by the launch of CODE: Veronica that same year.

Survivor does have a lot counting against it; the game reuses assets from Resident Evil 2, including its models for zombies, Lickers and the T-103 Tyrant and by this point, those models were becoming outdated, to say the least. The game also has atrocious voice acting, even worse than the original. The central plot is also ridiculous, relying on a hackneyed amnesia storyline.

This game's backstory is incredibly haunting and was key in making the franchise feel like it was bigger than just Raccoon City. The revelation that Umbrella were experimenting on teenagers in order to harvest a special hormone from their puberty-addled brains takes the evil corporation to the next level.

Multiple branching paths and locations offer a lot of replayability and the game can be pretty challenging. Survivor is definitely worth checking out if you can find a copy.
