5. Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth
Sega

SEGA have long been known for their "Blue Sky Gaming" philosophy - that is, games that elicit the same upbeat, carefree joy as enjoying a great spell of weather - and Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth is the most expansive expression of that credo to date.

The decision to take Ichiban Kasuga and his merry band of BFFs to Hawaii was a masterstroke on SEGA's part. Ichiban's brand of outgoing, feel-good charisma found its perfect match on Hawaii's sun-kissed shores, resulting in a joyously upbeat journey. Whether chatting with friends at a bar, collecting perverts like Pokemon (it makes sense in context, promise) or running your own island resort, Infinite Wealth is a game every bit as delightful as its shaggy-haired hero.

Of course, it helps that this is all backed up by a vastly improved combat system over the previous game. Fighting feels a lot less wooly this time round, as you have greater control over your allies and the number of redundant abilities has been greatly cut down while the overall spectacle has improved. How many other games let you use a vacuum to literally suck up your enemies' buffs? Or break the turn-based combat system and turn it into a real-time brawler?

Oh, and the cherry on top - there's actually another, almost entirely separate campaign to chew through with the series' original protagonist that's just as stuffed and feature-packed as Kasuga's island adventure. Because part of Blue Sky Gaming means being as wide open and generous as the heavens themselves...
