10 Best Short Films Based On Video Games

9. Croft (2013)

Nathan Fillion Drake Uncharted
EBNERDS

From the bow and arrow to the ice pick, Croft is very much based upon Crystal Dynamics' reboot of the Tomb Raider series. A gritty action short, what Croft lacks in depth, it makes up for in visually stunning stunt work inspired by the great action movies of the 1980s. This keeps the film fast paced, and means that you, as the audience, don't notice the bare-bones plot of it.

In fact, Croft is very much comparable to the 2018 blockbuster, in that its fairly shallow, but its grit and set pieces make up for it for sure. This is a truly enjoyable piece in the way many action films are, with a protagonist, credited only as 'Hero', who doesn't distract from the action saying few words across the film. What this does is allow the viewer to focus on the visceral action of the film, and just enjoy the expertly performed stunts of the actors.
