10 Best Shotguns In Gaming History - Ranked

4. Combat Shotgun (Fallout 4)

Shotguns are a proud Fallout tradition, going all the way back to the first game. But unlike the Interplay originals, if you're standing two inches away from your enemy and using the shotgun in 4, the computer can't say you miss on the grounds of "screw you that's why."

Which is why we choose the combat shotgun from Fallout 4. There are other types of shotguns in the game, including a classic double barrel boomstick. But this shotgun, like its combat rifle equivalent, takes the most advantage of the game's extensive weapon customization system.

If you mod this game to let you add higher grade weapon mods early, then getting your hands on the combat shotgun may as well win you the entire game. There is no flaw with how this gun handles that a weapon upgrade can't fix, and you'll be reducing super mutants to chunky salsa in no time.

But then, that's the issue, isn't it?

While the combat shotgun is more than capable in its vanilla form, if you want it to stay that way, you better be ready to spend those well earned level up points on weapon modding. And if you don't feel like modding, that is going to take you a long time.
