You knew this one was going to end up in the top 5, why wouldn't it be here? The only shocking thing is that it isn't number 1.

But it was a hard choice indeed, because whether you're talking about this or the 90's classic, this double barrel shotgun is the definitive weapon of the Doom franchise right next to the BFG. While it takes a good bit before you can get your hands on it in the 2016 remake, when you do, it feels like the game has finally truly begun.

Using this shotgun on a demon is like throwing a hand grenade into a pool full of pizza sauce. Exactly one millisecond after firing it, what was once a demon is now a puddle of grease and red mist. Using it on a larger enemy with either kill them instantly, or if they were unharmed beforehand, will immediately send them into a stagger for you to glory kill. So there is literally no escaping this gun's wrath.

What ultimately put it at second place is the limited ammo. You don't find a lot, and you burn through what you have quickly. Mostly because the super shotgun uses both barrels with each shot.
