10 Best Spectacle Fighter Video Games Of All Time

1. Devil May Cry 5

Devil May Cry 5

It's always a great thing when the latest instalment in any franchise or genre is the best on offer. It proves the industry is on the right track, and when it comes to Capcom reclaiming the franchise after the divisive 2013 instalment, they couldn't have played their cards any better.

Doing right by those who felt as though DMC 4's treatment of Dante was threadbare and phoned in, now he's the most complex character in action game history. Coming with four different styles and specials all switchable on the fly, they coincide with your firearms and weapons to produce a staggering array of attacks, evasive dodges and uber-cool flurry finishers.

Add to that Nero, whose arm gives you a rotating slew of moves including electric shockwaves, grapple finishers and beam cannons, and V, who can summon a group of demons to do his bidding, and the sheer spread of abilities on offer is unprecedented, to say the least.

Best of all, the entire game looks stunning; a level of cinematic presentation comprising zooms on final attacks and expertly choreographed cutscenes that elevate the feel of the entire project. Finishing Devil May Cry 5 only unlocks a really great reason to fire it back up and try again on a higher difficulty - a mentality that's always been in past games, but here you only truly get to see everything on offer by conquering the entirety of what Capcom have prepared.

Spectacle Fighters, you're one of gaming's least talked-about genres, but as a terminology and general ruleset, Devil May Cry 5 is one hell of a top candidate to represent why you should be played by every person on the planet.
