10 Best Spider-Man Video Games
6. The Amazing Spider-Man
2012's reboot of the Spider-Man movie franchise was met with one of the biggest collective "meh"s I've ever come across. Hardcore Spidey fans were just happy to see the skyscraper-thwipping badass back on screens, and though the movie was serviceable enough, it was the Amazing Spider-Man game that felt like it got way more love.
Developed by Beenox - who fans already had a solid reputation with thanks to Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time - they were finally given free reign to adapt the movie storyline and expand on the scope Sony then had in place for future movies. That meant way more human/animal spliced experiments in Oscorp's labs like Rhino, Scorpion and Vermin (look him up), but most of all - a real focus on nailing the momentum of Parker's web swinging.
This remains the biggest reason to check out ASM to this day, as Beenox decided to first bring the camera far closer to Spidey than ever before - meaning you're right alongside him during those reeeally close-to-the-ground swings - and they also implemented the ability to redirect yourself in mid-air.
Coupled with these systems was the now arbitrary 'Batman: Arkham combat' which admittedly, did its job, but this was one of the first Spidey games since 2008's Web of Shadows that actually made it enjoyable to explore New York City.
