First released in 1991, Vampire the Masquerade is set in a modern alternative present day. In this “Gothic-Punk” world, your players will take on the role of Vampires or “Kindred”. The day to day life of these creatures will include navigating the secret political world of the clans, avoiding vampire hunters, and dealing with their own bestial nature.

This game is a perfect setting for any story that explores the dark side of humanity. Morality, Depravity, and the characters dwindling humanity are all strong themes that run through the game. This can be perfect for having a game centred around personal horror.

Vampires in this game can be extremely powerful creatures. Their blood pool can be used to perform supernatural acts such as turning into animals or hypnotic suggestion. This blood pool must be restored by “Embracing” people. However, Vampires must not let this power go to their head, they must maintain a certain level of humanity. Performing brutal or immoral acts will make you lose touch with your reality. Go too far down this route and you may never come back.
