10 Best Teen Horror Video Games

8. Obscure

Hydravision Entertainment

An underrated gem from 2004, Obscure landed on the PlayStation 2, Xbox, and PC curtsey of French development team Hydravision Entertainment (now Mighty Rocket Studio). Embracing all the genre tropes of early 2000s American horror films within an innovative and atmospheric survival horror setting, this title is a must play for horror fans.

Following a group of five of the most stereotypical noughties’ teens, the plot follows the friends get locked in their school overnight while searching for their missing friend. Instead of finding their friend, though, the group discover that their principal has been using the school to experiment on strange spores that have infected students, turning them into horrific creatures that are overrunning the school. It’s now up to these teens to survive the night and find a way to escape.

While the game contains plenty of the survival horror mechanics you’d expect, Obscure shifted gears by allowing players to select who they’d play as alongside one other companion. Not only did this make the combat situations more manageable, but with each character having their own special attributes who you chose really mattered. Be careful, though, because your companions might not make it out alive.
