The cult classic of teen horror video games, Night Trap is the FMV game equivalent of the campest 80s B-Movie you can think of.

Originally releasing on the Sega CD in 1992 before recently receiving a remastered version to mark its 25th anniversary, this game sees you take on the role of an unnamed secret agent tasked with protecting teenage girls having a sleepover from vampiric creatures.

You do this by watching surveillance footage of the house they're in and using various traps to capture the intruders. Of course, the only way to know the plot is to watch every conversation play out, but if you take your eyes off these intruders for even just a moment they’ll eventually overrun the house, resulting in a swift game over.

In addition to arguably the most 80s theme song ever recorded (seriously, go and listen to it if you haven't), Night Trap’s legacy also stems from controversy surrounding its release.

Despite the developers purposely toning down any violence and the fact the objective of the game was to save the girls, this game was nevertheless used as an example of video game violence in a US congressional hearing alongside Mortal Kombat.
