10 Best Video Game Endings

5. Final Fantasy X

Final Fantasy X1 Many don€™t care for Final Fantasy X, because a lot of people don€™t care for things like joy and humor and beauty. For the rest of us, Final Fantasy X is a joyful, humorous, beautiful experience that stands tall as one of the best entries in a classic series. The story is unique, the setting is gorgeous, and the characters feel like real people. Sure, they get annoying sometimes, but then again, so do all real people. I won€™t attempt to summarise the plot, which is long and complicated, but the action all centers around the romance between Tidus and Yuna. Despite some cringe-worthy moments (like the laughing scene), this is arguably the best written love story in gaming. After all they go through, we genuinely want to see their relationship work out in the end. The problem is that Tidas isn€™t really real. He€™s a citizen of Zanarkand, which also isn€™t real; it€™s just the dream of the Fayth, an attempt to recreate a city that was destroyed by Sin. When Yuna and her guardians destroy Sin, the Fayth are awoken and the dream disappears. Sadly, this also means that Tidas disappears as well. In one of the most devastating scenes in gaming, Yuna runs to Tidas as he starts to fade away, only to move right through him and fall to her knees in despair. With tears in her eyes, Yuna proclaims her love for Tidas. All he can do is put his transparent arms around her, pretending to hold her one last time before he jumps off the airship into uncertain oblivion. And then Final Fantasy X-2 comes along and tries to ruin everything. But even that Charlie€™s Angels knockoff can€™t destroy the magic of the original ending.
