5. Maruki - Persona 5 Royal

ODIN God of War Ragnarok
Atlus

Nothing screams "satisfying ending" more than punching your therapist in his dumb face.

Takuto Maruki was a good doctor but a terrible therapist. Rather than help people to help themselves, he sought to instead fix the world's problems for them. So when his persona powers awaken - granting him the ability to cognitively alter reality itself - he decides that this is the perfect chance to make the world right at last.

After fighting their way up to the top of his castle/hospital/nightmare trauma pit, the phantom thieves confront Maruki. The fight that ensues is one of the hardest instances of Persona 5's "match the weakness to the monster" fight structure. The first phase is incredibly tough but fair, with brutal punishments for getting the types wrong or hitting the wrong target, but if done right the fight can be incredibly manageable.

The second and third phases are the more cinematic portion of the three, with Maruki breaking all the rules by FUSING with his persona Azathoth to become Adam Kadmon.

This behemoth of a new form is only brought down by a well-placed bullet from Joker, leading into phase three, where Maruki and Joker beat each other to a pair of bloody pulps while the cognitive world collapses around them. Realizing he's beaten, Maruki lets out a scream to end all screams, before succumbing to the collapse of everything he's built.
