From the very second that you boot into Child of Light, you'll likely be immediately struck by the absolutely incredible visual style of the game. Feeling like a mish-mash of a Studio Ghibli movie with a touch of the 1990's Disney renaissance, Child of Light is simply beautiful, which all works effortlessly with the fairy tale storytelling, contrasting a somewhat bleak looking world with a child-like sense of wonderment. But that isn't all, as Child of Light also offers up a fantastic RPG experience that isn't to be missed. While owing some debts to the classic RPGs of yesteryear, the game also manages to strike out on its own and take its own path to greatness. Thanks to a battle system that feels like equal parts Final Fantasy and Zelda, it maintains a personal awareness that you simply can't put down. It's an endlessly charming game, surprising you around every corner.
