4. Juan Aguacate (Guacamelee!) - Lucha Underground

There are no shortage of make-believe Lucha characters who staked a claim for this spot, but Juan Aguacate ultimately wins through. Introduced in 2013 platformer Guacamelee!, the character (and wider game) is entirely an homage to Mexican folklore and heritage, making his backstory perfect for a real-life run in Lucha Underground.

Both the game and LU are similar in that they are generally critically acclaimed despite modest mainstream attention. Whilst themes of resurrection and rescuing El Presidente's daughter might be too far fetched to parallel, the story of a man that gains power from a fabled luchadore mask to take revenge could still be transitioned with ease. Moves like the Rooster Uppercut, Olmec's Headbutt, Frog Slam, and Dashing DerpDerp not only have fantastic names but would provide the perfect folly to the movesets of stars like Rey Mysterio, John Morrison, Ricochet, and Pentagon Dark.

Whereas many real life practitioners of Lucha Libre go on to travel the world, the humble origins and importance of home grown heritage in Aguacate's persona would make an illustrious career exclusive to Mexico a likely scenario. There would be no shortage of interest, but this is a man who would not be influenced by money. Whilst never obtaining global stardom, Juan would be a legend in his homeland, where many masked wrestlers' identities remain a mystery (as tradition dictates). The rest of the world's loss would be Lucha Underground's gain.
