10 Best Video Games Based On Comic Books

1. Batman: Arkham City

Injustice 2 Green Lantern
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment

Before the Arkham franchise came out, there were some decent Batman games and some truly terrible ones, but there wasn't a "greatest Batman game ever made." That title easily went to Batman: Arkham Asylum when it was released in 2009. Fortunately, there was more to come via multiple sequels.

The best Arkham title is arguably the second, Batman: Arkham City, which was released in 2011 for the major consoles at the time. While Arkham Asylum let players explore the dark and gritty world of Gotham City's infamous insane asylum, its sequel opened up Gotham City itself, and it was vast.

The gameplay made it feel like a true Batman simulator. Sure, you could control the Dark Knight in its predecessor, but the ability to grapple and swing across the rooftops of Gotham while finding and beating up bad guys made it seem real.

Batman: Arkham City is often at the top of lists of the greatest Batman games ever made, and it's well-earned. The game is highly replayable, it features a ton of content, and it's as close as most people can ever get to becoming a billionaire playboy vigilante who spends his evening beating the crap out of evil.
