10 Best Video Games Based On Comic Books

2. Spider-Man

Injustice 2 Green Lantern
Sony Interactive Entertainment

When news of an exclusive PS4 Spider-Man title started making the rounds online, most gamers didn't think it would be as good as what was finally delivered. When the game dropped, it blew everyone away with its gorgeous graphics, vast open-world setting, and brilliant gameplay mechanics that made it really feel like the player was Spider-Man.

The game took Insomniac Games four years to develop, and it is the first licensed game the company made in its then-22-year history. The game is set within its own universe (Earth-1048), where it builds a huge story around Peter Parker and his friends, accomplices, and enemies.

The narrative was one of the best features, which made it feel like a brand-new Spider-Man film. Gameplay wasn't boring, and the choices available to the player regarding gear, tactics, costumes, and the manner in which they used their powers kept you engaged and wanting more.

The open-world of Manhattan was beautifully recreated for the game, and it's accurate, as it represents approximately 128 m2 (1,380 sq ft) of space. You can sit there and just web-swing through the city for hours looking around. This game was a love letter to Spider-Man and his fans, and it garnered a sequel released in 2020.
