10 Best Video Games Based On Movies
1. Cars
No seriously. Stop laughing.
I am deadly 100% being straight with you here. The Cars video game-tie-in is actually a phenomenally good title!
This is so incredibly odd to state because there is so much about this franchise to utterly LOATHE. For example, the IP was created to sell toys first and foremost and its story is a piss water weak soup of obvious emotional throughlines, plus it was a series that only got worse as it continued, spawning ridiculous plots to shift yet more merch.
That being said, the video game counterparts of this literal tire fire are actually really decent. The original doesn't just settle for being a Nascar-lite title and gives the player a fully open world to explore, packed with tonnes of quests and fun asides designed to distract. Yet the crowning achievement of this game is how it handles, implementing a weighty drifting mechanic, different handling depending on the terrain, and a genuine challenge in the form of A.I racers who don't fancy giving you an easy ride to victory.
All of this combines to make a thrill ride much greater than its Baby's First Burnout aesthetics might imply. Plus if this isn't for you, then the sequel goes down a Mario Kart route with even greater success!
It might be a bit of an easy home run to make racing games based on a series of racing cars, but it's clear the devs put more work into this than the original minds did into the literal tire-fire of a movie franchise!
