10 Best Video Games Of 2018 You Didn't Play

10. Onrush

There was a time when Codemasters were the driving game guys. Though they still are for F1 fans - thanks to their annual F1 titles and the exemplary Dirt series - Onrush is a bold experiment to transform the very nature of what a racing game is.

Their opening gambit? No more laps.

Onrush's main hook is you're not fighting for first place in terms of leading the pack, but taking out the competition with well-timed shunts and slams, all while racking up points from tricks and spins. Interestingly, your main rivals are joined by smaller "fodder" vehicles that also contribute to your high score, so if you're lagging behind, take the time to grind on a handful of "foes" and you'll accrue enough boost to blast right back into the fray.

All round it's a fascinating concept, and with a weighty physics model, eye-popping graphics and Codemaster's own time-tested game engine, there's nothing else like it.
