10 Best Video Games Of January 2022 (According To Critics)

8. Nobody Saves The World (XSX)

Indie game developer Drinkbox Studios have been on a roll in recent years after they created the critically acclaimed Guacamelee! titles, a series of 2D metroidvania games with excellent combat, movement and visuals. They continue this run of indie games we can't get enough of with Nobody Saves The World, a quirky dungeon crawling action RPG released on game pass for Xbox and PC.

The game sees you take on the role of Nobody, a blank-slate character who stumbles upon a magical wand, allowing him to transform into a vast array of wacky forms with differing abilities.

The really fun part presents itself after the first hour of so, when you discover you can mix and match abilities between these forms to create fun, fresh and downright crazy builds. Want to transform into a slug that fires missiles? Sure. How about a dragon that fires arrows? Why not? An ghost that breathes poisonous flames? Go crazy.

The game tasks us with traversing it's fantastical map, upgrading and unlocking new forms and abilities all while collecting stars to open new dungeons to progress. These dungeons have unique modifiers such as increased enemy damage, certain elemental resistances and exploding corpses.

Racking up a score of 79 on Metacritic, this indie gem is not to be missed.
