10 Best Video Games Of January 2022 (According To Critics)

9. Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel (PC)

Yu-Gi-Oh! is an incredibly popular manga, anime and card game which has spawned quite a few video game adaptations over the years. At some point, you probably watched an episode of the anime or purchased a pack of the massively popular trading cards, thrilled when you pulled a shiny, rare card to show off or swap with your friends.

Perhaps you even played one of the many Yu-Gi-Oh! games released across several systems, most of which never really took off and were not received well among fans or critics.

This latest entry in the trading card video game series was announced in 2020 and many didn't take much notice, despite the title boasting over 10,000 cards, single player and multiplayer modes. It even promised cross-play and cross-progression between the console, PC and mobile releases.

When it released earlier in January, it actually broke Steam records for a digital card game, with over 260,000 concurrent players at it's peak. With the game being free-to-play as well as releasing on pretty much every modern platform, the reach of this Yu-Gi-Oh! game is proving to be enormous.

It also went down quite well with critics, amassing a 79 critic rating on Metacritic with it's PC version. Although once again user reviews are highly mixed, with the game sitting at a 5.5/10 in terms of user score.
