10 Best Video Games Of January 2022 (According To Critics)
7. Windjammers 2 (PC)
It's not very often that a game receives a sequel nearly 30 years after the original release but Windjammers 2 proves that it can be done and done well. Originally released in 1994 for the Neo Geo, this sports game is essentially pong, where players try to get a disc into the opposition goal using characters with different abilities and moves.
Fast forward to January 2022 and Windjammers 2 is making waves as a solid follow up to the classic 90's arcade title. Retaining the top-down perspective, Windjammers 2 has an upgraded hand drawn art style, new mechanics and characters. All six of the original roster are still present the sequel, with all new special moves and abilities. The game is easy enough to pick up and learn but much more difficult to master.
Some characters have slower movement but more control of the disc while others have much more rapid movement at the expense of more erratic shots. Whether you are facing off against friends or playing solo, there is a lot of fun to be had with Windjammers 2.
Critics seemed to think so too, with the long awaited sequel landing a critic score of 79 on the Nintendo Switch over on Metacritic.
