The Chinese Room

Developed by the Brighton-based The Chinese Room team, Everybody's Gone To The Rapture is a 2016 first person adventure. Set in a small rural village in the heart of Yorkshire and described by IGN as being a 'beautiful, heart-breaking journey to the end of the world', the game revolves players exploring an area that has seen every single person suddenly disappear.

The player can interact with objects such as doors and phones, but the game is essentially a walking simulator across this quaint picturesque village and getting to grips with what has happened to the world.

Following the release of the art game Dear Esther back in 2008, The Chinese Room have become known for their immense story-telling and this continues with Jessica Curry's direction behind Everybody's Gone To The Rapture.

The game has gone onto be nominated and won national awards for its music, direction, tone, writing and performance, and the likes of Kotaku and Gamespot went on to include it in their lists of the best games of the year.

It might be a sombre setting, but there's still something quite sweet about this walking simulator.
