3. Persona 5's Publisher Threatens To Ban Streamers Showing Their Game

All publishers want to avoid spoilers from leaking before a game is officially released, and it's not uncommon for those receiving early copies of a title to be asked by companies not to show specific scenes or moments from an upcoming game.

The publisher of Persona 5, Atlus, was no different in wanting to keep spoilers under wraps. However, instead of politely asking video makers and streamers to refrain from using certain footage, they instead threatened them with copyright strikes and account bans if they screened any video from the game past a certain date.

Obviously threatening the livelihood of hundreds, if not thousands, of people in an attempt to avoid spoilers only ensured that the people targeted would break the rules in an attempt to fight back.

Atlus received even more criticism from fans and players once the threats were revealed to the public, leading to the company responding with an apology a little while later that was too little, too late.
