10 Biggest Gaming Controversies Of 2017 (So Far)
2. Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Is Too Hard
One of the less ugly controversies on this list, players went crazy when they got their hands on the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy earlier this month because they couldn't remember the games being so damn hard.
Sure, the original trilogy always had its difficult moments, but it was never this punishing. There was a collective feeling that something was off, but nobody could quite put their finger on what was making them come face to face with the game-over screen over and over again.
It turned out that time hadn't played tricks on people, but in remaking the games from scratch the developers inadvertently made the releases more difficult by subtly changing some of the physics and hit-boxes in the levels. While they were originally quiet on the changes, the studio recently flat-out admitted that they'd messed up and made everything harder.
This meant certain jumps were much more difficult to pull off than they ever were before and that enemies could hit you from a little further away - so you can blame that the next time you give up trying to get past The High Road.
