10 Biggest Gaming Myths About The Apocalypse

8. Medication

Who here remembers the Dark Ages? No? Well, do your reading because chances are, in many of the scenarios you€™ve landed in, you€™ve just been plunged back into them. What does that mean? Oh, you know, life-threatening infection, fatal diseases, broken legs that equate to a death sentence. Real Old Testament stuff. Medication is one of those things taken for granted in games. It€™s almost guaranteed to appear if you can hold off dying for 20 more minutes where, usually, you'll find a medikit conveniently located on the wall, or better still in the rotting corpse of your recently decapitated enemies. Games want you to win, they might not make it easy, but they want you to get there and so they make sure you have plenty of ways to instantly heal those bullets in your shoulder or lacerations to your face. It's fair to say you wouldn't have made it to the end of the any of the Gears of War, or Resistance sequels if your body didn't miraculously heal itself. Whilst you're thankful to your games for quick fixes, when the dead rise and society crumbles you best hope you find yourself friends with a well stocked doctor because, one moderate accident and you'll see just how much your body doesn't want to heal itself.
