10 Biggest Problems With Nintendo Switch
7. Paying Full Price For Last-Gen Games
When the Wii U title, Mario Kart 8, was ported to the Switch, it quickly became the most successful game on the system by a mile. Because of this, it was no surprise when Nintendo ported other Wii U games, such as Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze, Bayonetta 2, Hyrule Warriors, and Super Mario 3D World.
Unfortunately, many of these ports were full price, despite being from a previous system. Considering the Wii U's graphics barely improved upon the Wii, games like New Super Mario Bros. U looked ancient on a modern console.
Nevertheless, Nintendo was expecting gamers to fork out £50 or more for games that were a decade old. Some of these ports have been available on the Switch for four or five years and yet, the price has never wavered, not even during a sale.
Now, you could argue these hefty price tags could be justified if the ports had added features that were unavailable in the original version.
For the most part, this is the case. Even though it would've been cheeky to charge £50 for a barebones port of Super Mario 3D World, the Switch version comes with a new mode called Bowser's Fury. But considering you can complete this bonus feature in two hours, it doesn't warrant the game's extortionate price.
Considering there are brand-new games that are being sold for less than a tenner, watching Nintendo guarding its wallets over last-gen titles comes across as greedy.
