10 Biggest Video Game Complaints FIXED In DLC
4. Game Ends With Its Story - Fallout 3: Broken Steel (2009)
A lot of the time, there's an unspoken fear about entering the last level in an open world game. Will you be able to come back and explore after wrapping up the story, or will you be locked into a definitive ending that cuts off your playthrough there and then?
Sadly, for Fallout 3 in its vanilla state, it was the latter that was very much the case - and fans were none too happy about it.
Imagine having deliberately left a ton of side quests until you've finished the main campaign, only to learn that you can no longer go back to them because the game has gone and ended on you...
Have no fear, because Bethesda eventually came to the rescue with the 2009 DLC pack, Broken Steel. As well as providing a handful of new and expansive missions, its biggest offering is an alteration to the game's ending, which can prevent the player's death and have them wake up from a coma to roam around the post-apocalyptic wastes for as long as they like.
In other words, this DLC basically gave us half of the game back. As fixes go, this ain't no small thing.
