10 Biggest Video Game Controversies Of 2015

3. The Business Of Star Wars Battlefront

Star Wars Battlefront never really had a chance. As soon as EA acquired the Star Wars brand, many automatically assumed the game would be watered down and ruined by the frustrating business practices that have only become more prevalent over the years. And they were right. Battlefront has been assaulted on all sides for being the ultimate representation of everything that is wrong with modern video games. It€™s multiplayer only. It has a limited amount of maps and modes. It€™s shallow and overly simplistic. And worst of all, the majority of the content is locked away in a number of expansions that together cost almost as much as the barebones release. It reeks of corporate shenanigans, and gamers are starting to get fed up with it. You can see this in how divisive the reactions to Battlefront have been. It has a horrifyingly low 3.5 user rating on Metacritic, and that€™s because many feel that Battlefront is yet another video game to be ruined by outside business practices. Many have stated their outright refusal to buy the game out of principle, while others just can€™t bring themselves to get that upset about it. It€™s a complex issue that doesn€™t appear to be going away any time soon.
