There is a specific type of game that comes around every few years or so, a type of game that’s relatively simple in gameplay yet complex in the narrative, a narrative that leaves you in awe and with a deep feeling of melancholy. Citizen Sleeper is one of those games.

A sleeper hit this year; Citizen Sleeper throws you into a table-top RPG where a set of six-sided dice are rolled every morning, determining how many times you can interact with the world in a given day.

It’s a game of strategy, where you must be conscious of who you interact with, what you say, and what you ultimately do to extend the story forward. Similar to previous games like Disco Elysium, another sleeper title from 2019.

While the gameplay is somewhat compelling, the story is where the game truly shines: you play as a cyborg in the middle of a space station, meeting new people, exploring, and learning more about the world and characters.

A game like Citizen Sleeper only comes around every few years, and this is one you need to check out.
