With all of the villains running rampant in Gotham City, it was only a matter of time until good ol' Eddie Nigma crawled out of the woodwork. And, true to his egocentric nature, he's back again with more brain-teasing puzzles for the Bat to conquer. But that's not all - with the Batmobile taking such a prominent role in the proceedings, Nigma's devised a series of underground race tracks to test the Dark Knight's, uh... 'intellect'. Yeah, it doesn't really make a whole lot of sense, but that's not to say that it's a total bust either as the Riddler Segments offer some of the best uses of the Batmobile in the entire game. However, Rocksteady's insistence on bending logic in pretzel-shaped ways to suit the gameplay is ultimately detrimental to the narrative in this regard as well - even if you were to overlook his sudden fondness for racing and the feasibility of setting up these elaborate raceways, isn't it a bit out of character for someone who's repeatedly expressed his disdain for Batman's brawn to suit up as a giant robot for the sole purpose of bashing his brains in? Furthermore, Eddie even references his usage of armor as a means of defending against Batman's "violent excesses", and still insists that it counts as an intellectual victory either way, but at that point it seems less like a peculiar manifestation of Nigma's insecurities, and more like a feeble attempt on Rocksteady's part to justify the circumstances. But, despite all that, the Riddler segments are easily one of the game's highlights and definitely worth the effort.
