True to the title and spirit of this piece, I don't think ANYONE saw this coming...
The Saints Row games are possibly the most tongue-in-cheek, self-aware titles you'll ever play.
Wearing their "GTA Clone" badges proudly on their purple jackets, the Saints Row titles never try to be anything other than ostentatious, goofy fun.
Into this world steps legendary actor Burt Reynolds, not to voice a fictional character, but appearing as himself.
As the Mayor of Steelport, Reynolds' first appearance is to task the player with quashing a zombie outbreak (which the player actually instigated...) by destroying toxic canisters located around the city (oh, Saints Row...).
Dependant on the player's decisions and actions throughout the mission, Mayor Reynolds' fate lies in one of two very different directions.
Should you as the player choose to kill the leader of the Luchadores and Syndicate member Eddie "Killbane" Pryor, sacrificing allies Shaundi and Viola in the process, Mayor Burt Reynolds is killed and his beloved Steelport is declared a city-state under the Saints' control
Choose alternatively to save Shaundi and Viola, Mayor Reynolds survives.
As moral quandaries in gaming go, this is certainly one of the weirdest.
