5. Not Being Able To Reload Or Shoot While Moving In Resident Evil 4

Although Resident Evil 4 completely revolutionised the classic survival horror franchise by moving away from series staples like the static camera and tank controls, it couldn't shake off every archaic design idea.

Just like the previous games, in order to keep the tension high the sequel didn't allow players to move around while they were engaged in combat. Forcing them to stop in their tracks while they picked their shots, firefights in Resi 4 were a very static affair.

It certainly kept the suspense high in the opening hours, but eventually the restricted movement system became more of a nuisance once faster and more plentiful enemies were introduced. Hell, you couldn't even reload your weapons on the move, which often resulted in some cheap hits and deaths that should have been avoidable.

The adherence to this rule made even less sense by the time the more fast-paced sequel came around too, and was pointed out by many critics as being a hangover from a previous generation that should have been dropped long ago.
