6. Seeing Your First Colossus - Shadow of the Colossus
The irony behind this moment is that it really should come as no surprise. You're playing a game called Shadow of the Colossus, so you, naturally, should go in expecting to see some pretty big things. Still, nothing compares to seeing your first Colossi and realizing just how small they make you feel.
Shadow of the Colossus puts you in the shoes of a young man on a mission to slay the 16 Colossi across a fantasy land. The first of these encounters is a hulking beast known as Valus, whose introduction sets the stage for an epic battle.
After entering the monster's domain, you'll see them walk past you. As you trail behind and take a few shots with your bow, Valus turns and comes your way. This is when you get your first sight of how minuscule you are when compared to your foes, and it will leave you stunned.
Valus might not be the most impressive Colossi you encounter during your quest. But, the benchmark their introduction establishes is massive (pun intended).
