At the beginning of the Seventh Generation it became strikingly clear that DVDs were on their way out and that either Blu-Ray or HD-DVD would usurp it, becoming the new format standard for unprecedented picture quality. The war ended up being pretty one sided though as Sony stomped the competition with Blu-Ray, resulting in many worthless HD-DVD collections. Entering this generation however, its pretty clear that Blu-Ray is still the dominant format with literally nothing opposing it, so why not beef up that Blu-Ray collection with movies and TV shows you love? Im an aficionado myself and love having hundreds of films at my fingertips. Dont let outrageous prices from retail stores sway you either, because you can find much better deals for everything on Amazon. In short though, the PlayStation 4 makes for another great Blu-Ray player and a go-to media center, instead of fiddling around with hokey stand-alone players.
