10 Brutal Difficulty Spikes In Recent Video Games
8. Octo Expansion - Splatoon 2
Splatoon 2 by itself isn't exactly a breeze. The unique ink-splashing gameplay can, in fact, get pretty darn frustrating if you let it get the best of you. If you're one of those people, then maaaybe the game's Octo Expansion isn't for you.
Taking control of an Octoling for the first time in the series, players must work their way through a dingy subway network beneath Inkopolis that features 80 increasingly wicked puzzles. Other than the setting, you may be thinking, "Well, what else is new?"
It's only when you get stuck in do you realise that you couldn't have underestimated this experience any more.
For one thing, the puzzles really put to use your whole arsenal of gadgets, demanding pinpoint accuracy and some lightning-fast platforming reflexes on your part.
Then there are the bottomless pits, which are virtually EVERYWHERE. If the challenging gadgetry doesn't test your patience, then falling down into nothingness a billion times will be sure to.
This DLC presents so much of a challenge that it has occasionally been compared to the infamous Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels. Still think you're up to the challenge?
