10 Cancelled Video Games That Could Have Been Masterpieces

8. Sadness

Developer: Nibris Concept: Black-and-white psychological horror For a few years, it was looking like Sadness could be the greatest survival horror game since 2001's Silent Hill 2. The black-and-white graphics, along with its focus on psychological horror over gory violence felt refreshing in a genre dominated by Resident Evil. A live action concept trailer showed off how the game could be controlled using the Wii Remote (an exciting idea at the time), and the setting of a pre-World War I Ukraine was totally unique. Sadness was also planned to contain a sprawling, branching storyline, heavily influenced by player choice. Disappointingly, rumours of development troubles and artistic differences plagued Sadness after its initial announcement in 2006. Years with no gameplay revealed or substantial news announced, and it soon became clear that the game had ventured into vaporware territory, leaving the Sadness project to eventually fade into obscurity. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-ChQXHxqSI
