10 Cases Of Seriously Misguided Video Game Box Art

2. Mary Kate & Ashley: Crash Course (Playstation)

1096539-marycrush_largeThe Box Art: So, like, what do you think of this totally awesome box art? It's it, like, rad, huh? And "rad" is one word you might use to describe such devilry, albeit that you're witty and sarcastic. The problem here, of course, is that Mary Kate and Ashley are being forced to express themselves through speech bubbles that don't match their facial experiences at all. They're not even speaking, by the looks of things. The result, then, is an absurd and somewhat depressing window into an adult's opinion of "how young girls talk to each other." And that opinion has been used as the major selling point in which to ship these games into PlayStations owned by impressionable young teens who, like, adore boys. The Pitch:
Dualstar Interactive Suit: "Watson, you've got two teenager daughters, right? Twins? " Dualstar Interactive Designer: "Uh, that's right, sir. But I don't see them much. My wife and I are separated, you see." Dualstar Interactive Suit: "Oh, don't worry about that. Just write down what you think they'd say about, I don't know, 'boys', and write it in those speech bubbles I've drawn coming out of the girls' mouths."
